What Are Angel Gowns, and Why Do We Do This Work?
Many people I’ve spoken with recently have never heard of Angel Gowns. And when I explain it, I’m often met with silence, confusion, or even discomfort—understandably so. It’s not an easy topic.
Angel Gowns are beautifully handcrafted garments made from donated wedding dresses. They are gifted to families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a baby—whether through stillbirth or early infant loss.
These gowns serve as a final gift of dignity, love, and remembrance. They are made with immense care, compassion, and gentleness to offer comfort in moments of unimaginable sorrow. They become keepsakes that families can hold onto when there is little else to hold.
At Railway City Angel Gowns, we are part of this quiet, global movement. But we’re local. We’re a team of volunteers—no one here takes a salary. Every stitch, every wrap, every tiny gown is made with love by someone who deeply cares, and for some of us, it’s personal.
What makes our organization a little different is that we don’t just make gowns for newborns. We create angel outfits up to size 3 years, and even up to size 5 upon request—because loss doesn’t only happen in infancy, and every child deserves to be honoured with dignity and love.
We serve hospitals, funeral homes, and families across Ontario. Focusing on Southwestern Ontario and the GTHA, offering support when it’s needed most—and when it’s least expected.
This is a service few talk about, but sadly, it is needed. And for the families who do need us, it means everything.
We rely solely on the generosity of our community—through gown donations, financial support, and word-of-mouth. If you’ve never heard of angel gowns until now, we invite you to learn more. And if this mission touches your heart, we would be honoured to have your support.
Because no family should ever feel alone in their grief.

Help Us Secure Our Future
We are raising $130,000 to cover two years of rent, hydro, insurance, and essential supplies — so we can continue focusing on our mission: creating and delivering burial gowns to grieving families across Ontario.
We are 100% volunteer-run — no one takes a salary. Every dollar goes directly toward helping families during their most heartbreaking moments.
With your support, we can continue to provide these gowns at no cost to families, offering love, dignity, and comfort when it’s needed most.
E-transfer is the best way to donate, with no or minimal service charges, so more of your contribution goes straight to our work.
Feel free to contact Paola Bucco Docherty at 519-207-0661
Thank you for believing in our mission.
